magento in the morning, drupal before lunch, sharepoint after lunch, dynamics crm customization closer to evening, and somewhere between them a website maintenance task that looks harmless until you open it. outsource life is basically professional context switching. the main skill is not coding. the main skill is keeping your brain attached while changing mental models every two hours.

still, it is good training. drupal feels almost friendly now because at least it does not pretend to be an enterprise platform. magento is its own religion. sharepoint has that special kind of corporate gravity. dynamics crm extensions are surprisingly interesting when the client actually knows what business process they want. which is, of course, not always. kinetic.js and d3.js at least make the front-end part feel a little less like clerical duty.

i notice i have become calmer about legacy code too. maybe because by now i have enough of my own old code preserved here to stop being arrogant about it. every strange codebase was once somebody's reasonable decision in an unreasonable deadline. and every "quick fix" has a child, a grandchild and a mortgage.

so yes, still tired. but also noticeably less naive, and that may be useful. besides, regular english calls are slowly curing me from the old instinct to hide behind the monitor.
